God’s Plan

God loves you! His original plan was for everyone to live in a perfect relationship with him and each other.


God gave the first man and woman a choice.


And the Lord God commanded the man, "You are free to eat from any tree in the garden; but you must not eat from the tree of the knowledge of good and evil, for when you eat of it you will surely die."
(Genesis 2:16)


They decided to disobey God when they were tempted to do so by the serpent (the devil).


"You will not surely die," the serpent said to the woman. "For God knows that when you eat of it (the fruit) your eyes will be opened, and you will be like God, knowing good and evil." (Genesis 3:4,5)


Because of their disobedience to God they were banished from their home. Sin and death had now entered the world. Because we are all descendants of Adam and Eve, their disobedient nature has been passed down to us.


...Sin entered the world through one man, and death through sin, and in this way death came to all people, because all sinned. (Romans 5:12)


Our Problem


We have inherited this sin nature. We are responsible for our own sin. 

For all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God, and are justified freely by his grace through the redemption that came by Christ Jesus. (Romans 3:23,24)

The penalty of sin is death. 

For the wages of sin is death, but the gift of God is eternal life in Christ Jesus our Lord. (Romans 6:23)

This poses a problem worse that cancer or aids! These diseases can kill the body but sin will kill the soul. How can we overcome sin?


God’s Solution


God has provided the cure!



God loved everyone in the world so much that instead of obliterating the lot of us, he decided to send his son Jesus to pay the penalty for sin, which is death.


"For God so loved the world that he gave his one and only son, that whoever believes in him will not perish (die) but have eternal life. For God did not send his son into the world to condemn the world, but to save the world through him. Whoever believes in him is not condemned, but whoever does not believe stands condemned already because he has not believed in the name of God’s one and only son. (John 3:16 - 18)


We can’t save ourselves!


For it is by grace you have been saved, through faith - and this is not based on your own efforts - it is the gift of God - not by works so that no one can boast. (Ephesians 2:8,9) *Our own Paraphrase.


There is only one way to God.


Jesus answered, "I am the way and the truth and the life. No one comes to the father (God) except through me." (John 14:6)


Two Choices


We have two choices! We can choose to believe in God, accepting the fact that Jesus has paid the price for our sin and receive eternal life. Or we can choose to remain as we are and we will receive eternal death, which is what our disobedience to God deserves.


The choice is yours!

How do I believe in God?

1. Believe that God is real, that he is who he says he is (The way, the truth and the life).

2. Realise that we are all sinners. You, like me, have a problem that we need God to solve.

3. Pray to God and ask him to forgive you for your sin, which is your rebellion towards Him.

4. Ask Jesus (God’s son) to come into your life as your saviour and king.

5. Submit to God’s will in your life. You’ll find all the instructions you need for living in the Bible.

If you are serious about this you can be sure that you are now a Christian and that God is with you.

The bible says:


If we confess our sins, he is faithful and just and will forgive us our sins and purify us from all unrighteousness. (1 John 1:9)


...I have come that they might have life, and have it to the full (John 10:10)


... God has said, "Never will I leave you, Never will I forsake you." (Hebrews 13:5)


Anyone who has the Son of God has this testimony in his heart. Anyone who does not believe God has made him out to be a liar, because he has not believed the testimony God has given about his Son. And this is the Testimony: God has given us eternal life, and this life in his Son. He who has the Son of God has life; he who does not have the Son of God does not have life.
(1 John 5:10-12)


What if I don’t feel any different?


Base your faith in God on the facts contained in the bible, not on your feelings.

Growth

Knowing God is like a relationship. It takes time. Develop your relationship with God by doing the following:


1.Read the bible on a regular basis. Start with the sections titled Matthew or Luke. If you don’t have one you can CLICK HERE to order a Free bible/video Pack.

2. Talk to God. You can’t see him but he is there. You can’t see the wind either. You may form impressions in your mind. Learn to recognise what God’s voice is like. Usually it is like a still small voice, gentle and peaceful - not nagging and bossy.

 

3. Obey God. The bible will help you to know what sort of life pleases God. (E.g. see Ephesians 4:17 - 6:20)


4.
Live in the power of God’s Holy Spirit. He is our comforter and guide.

I pray that out of his glorious riches he may strengthen you with power through his Spirit in your inner being, so that Christ may dwell in your hearts through faith. (Ephesians 3:16,17)


5. Tell others about Jesus. It’s too good to keep to yourself.

 

6. Find a good Church. Email us if you need help to find one. It’s important to meet with other Christians to be built up in your faith.
